Britney Spears is vacationing in Costa Rica … with Mel Gibson. But there’s
nothing going on because Mel’s wife and Britney’s dad are there too. A source says the two families have gone
away for a few days of rest and relaxation and will be back early next week. Mel and Britney used to be neighbors when Britney
lived in Malibu and became friends after Britney’s hospitalization in February. They were later seen at dinner at Russian
restaurant Romanov in Studio City. Sources say that Mel and his wife don’t have any agenda with reaching out to Britney
other than human kindness. They saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible. This isn’t
the first time Mel has reached out to young Hollywood. Earlier this year, the movie star dined with Lindsay Lohan and reportedly
offered her advice about dealing with the media.
Despite the engagement rumors, Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson have
called it quits, less than two months after rekindling their romance. The end of their on again/off again relationship comes
amid erroneous reports that the two were engaged. Rumors started after Kate was seen wearing a Tiffany ring. Turns out that
the ring was a prop from the set of her film Bride Wars, which she's filming in Boston. A friend of Owen’s says that
it was a bad break up for Owen and that he just wants to put it behind him. Owen seems to be doing a good job of that since
he was seen last week at N.Y.C.'s Upstairs with two women. An onlooker said he seemed pretty chummy with the women and happy
to be there. The next night Owen was seen at Butter with another hot blonde. A friend of Kate’s says that she now feels
stupid because she believed their relationship to be serious.
Beyonce is reportedly in talks to join the cast of
"Desperate Housewives." Beyonce’s dad and manager, Matthew Knowles, has allegedly already landed his daughter a guest
appearance on the show, but according to reports, he is looking to secure Beyonce a more prominent role. A source in the Knowles
camp says, "They've already agreed to give Beyonce a cameo appearance. But (we're) hoping that (she) could be written in for
a recurring role, or possibly even a permanent one."
Miley Cyrus can't catch a break. Fresh off the Annie Leibovitz
controversy, it was announced that numbers for her show, "Hannah Montana," are tanking. And now, LA-based band Lustra claims
Cyrus' song "Rockstar" sounds impossibly similar to their tune "Scotty Doesn't Know," off their album "Left for Dead." Lustra
guitarist Nick Cloutman said, "Although we are very flattered that Ms. Cyrus took this route, we would have preferred some
credit." The band is "considering various options to rectify this situation," he added. Cyrus' rep said, "She doesn't write
the songs - she sings them. We have referred this to Disney."
